Ronald attended Clark Elementary, Whittier Jr. High, and Flint Central
High. While at Flint Central, Ron was a two sport star in football
and track. Ron was one of the fastest runners in the State. He was
an outstanding football player at left half back. With his speed and
an uncanny ability to out maneuver tacklers, Ron earned honors on the
All City Team, All Valley and unanimous choice on all of the All State
Teams in Michigan. A Central record of 18 touchdowns in one season,
and he won the Saginaw Valley scoring title with 54 points in 1958.
Ron gained 1,021 yards rushing. Ronald scored 24 touchdowns and gained1,589
yards rushing, for an average of 8.3 yards a carry.
A sprinter in track, he set a non-grad record in the 100 yard dash
of 9.9 seconds. He won the Regionals 100 in 10.1 seconds, and 220 in
22.3 seconds.
Ron had the second most yards gained in a single game in history at
Central, 241 yards. After Ronald graduated from Flint Central in 1959,
he matriculated at Michigan State University and participated in football
and track.
