Paul was raised up on Elizabeth Street on Flint's north side. He attended
Doyle Elementary, Whittier Junior High and graduated from Flint Central
High School. Paul went on to Flint Junior College and from there to
Ferris State College to get his degree.
As a junior at Flint Central, Paul started on the team that reached
the State Tournament Finals. He averaged 17 points a game and was co-captain
in his senior year.
In a game with Southwestern he broke the single game scoring record
for a Flint Class A player, pouring in 44 points. In one game he had
20 rebounds and 17 of those rebounds were on the offensive boards.
Paul had a .302 shooting average and was the top scorer on Central's
team. He made All Valley and All City his junior year in the 1967-1968
season. Paul averaged 17.8 points during the regular season and had
a 15 point average in the Saginaw Valley.
At Flint Junior College, he shot 10 for 21 from the field in one game
and the 24 points boosted his 10 game total to 182 points for a 18.2
average. As a Flint Junior College player his finest scoring night
was against Farmington, scoring 30 points and dominating the rebounds.
In his four year career at Flint Junior College Paul had a shooting
average of .473, and in a single year made 96 of 203 shots for an average
of 15.8 points. He played in 59 winners and 17 losses. His record by
years, 20-3, 15-5 and 11-3.
Paul is employed with the Flint Community Capital Development Corporation
and lives in Flint.
