Arnold grew up on Lomita Street, on Flint's north side. He attended
Jefferson Elementary, Emerson Junior High and graduated from Flint
Northern High School. He played football and was an All State Wrestler.
Arnold wrestled on Flint Northern's first undefeated team, with a record
of 10-0-1 regular season and a combined record of 86-1-1 for the year.
Arnold spearheaded the Vikings third straight regional wrestling title
by earning a championship held at Owosso High School. He made All State
and All Valley two consecutive years in the 120 and 127 pounds weight
class.
He was the starting fullback on offense and played halfback on defense
on the 1962 Flint Northern football team.
In bowling, Arnold bowled a 300 game at East Town Bowl in the Steve
Bysco Classic League. He was number 15 that season among 91 rolled
in the Flint area. Arnold had a career high of 778 series followed
with games of 236 and 242. His previous series high was 777 and he
rolled a 299 game. Bowled eight 700 series in one year. Arnold won
the City Men's Tournament Championship and teamed up with James Blakley,
they captured the handicap double crown in the 1988 Flint Men's Bowling
Association Tournament at Colonial Lanes.
Arnold bowled a 300 game in 1997 and also in 1999. He bowled a 290
in 1996 and a 808 series in January of 1996. In March of 1996, Arnold
had an 803 series.
Arnold is a member of the National Bowling Association, and is retired
from the Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant. He lives in Flint.
