Paula grew up in Flint, and attended Bunche Elementary, Flint Academy
and graduated from Flint Northern High School. Paula attended the University
of Southern California where she excelled in sports.
While at Flint Northern, Paula at 6 feet 3 inches, led the Lady Vikings
to win back to back State Class A Basketball Championships in 1978 and
1979. She was also instrumental in leading Northern's track team to
win back to back Class A titles in 1979 and 1980 Paula was an All Saginaw
Valley Conference performer on Northern's League Champion Volleyball
team.
"I never had a problem with Paula and Pamela when it came to education,
they were self-motivated and good leaders," said their mother,
Diane McGee.
Paula and Pamela served as president of their high school class, and
during the three years at Northern, they compiled a record in basketball
of 59 wins and four losses.
On the track team the "Twins" participated in the shot put,
high jump, quarter mile and relays. After high school, they entered
the University of Southern California and took with them their talents
and strong desire to succeed.
While attending the University of Southern California, their team was
classified by basketball experts as being the most dominant in women's
basketball history.
As student athletes, Paula and Pamela, received numerous awards and
back to back National Championships at the University of Southern California.
A pivotal point in the career of the McGee twins was when Paula was
not chosen to play in the 1984 US Olympics. This, however, did not deter
Pamela from bringing home the Gold Medal.
Even though Paula was unable to participate in the Olympics, the team
work and comeradery of the McGee twins shined when Pamela returned and
gave the Gold Medal to her sister.
Paula, a minister, lives in Antioch, Tennessee.
